Beans ‘n Wiener Biscuit Casserole
From the Pillsbury Biscuits Wrapper – 1980s
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef hot dogs, sliced
- 2 cans (16 oz each) Pork-n-Beans
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup onion, chopped
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 can (7.5 oz) Pillsbury Refrigerated Biscuits
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- In medium saucepan, combine wieners, pork and beans, ketchup, onion, and brown sugar.
- Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Spoon hot bean mixture into ungreased 8 or 9 inch square baking pan.
- Separate biscuit dough into 10 biscuits; arrange over bean mixture. Sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake at 400ºF for 20 to 25 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and no longer doughy.
Notes
BartClan Preference: Replace the hot dogs with one pound precooked bulk or link sausage (sliced), Polska Kielbasa, or similar.
Schwebach variation: replace store biscuits with Bisquick biscuits — Mix 2 1/4 cups Bisquick mix and 2/3 cup milk until a soft dough forms. Form into nine biscuits and use as recipe directs.
