Martha White Waffles
Ingredients
- 2 eggs separated
- 1 3/4 cups sifted self-rising flour
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Self-Rising Flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp slightly generous
- 1 tsp salt scant
- 1 3/4 cups flour minus space for other ingredients
Instructions
- Preheat waffle iron. Beat egg whites with electric mixer in mixing bowl until stiff but not dry.
- Beat yolks is separate mixing bowl until blended. Add flour, milk and vegetable oil to the yolks; blend well.
- Gently fold in egg whites with a rubber spatula until blended. Bake in hot waffle iron.
Notes
Tips: Do not pour batter into waffle iron until the light goes off. Do not lift the lid while the waffle is steaming. Waffle is done when the steaming stops.
