Pie Crust

Makes one 9" pie crust

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold butter
  • 3 tablespoons ice water

Instructions
 

  • Lightly mix flour, sugar, and salt together in a bowl. Cut butter into chunks, and add to dry ingredients to coat. Dump onto counter and use a rolling pin to flatten the butter into sheets (or use a pastry cutter). Scoop everything back into the bowl.
  • Add water and toss quickly to disperse the water. Dump back onto the counter. Roll out dough–adding flour and scraping the rolling pin as necessary–then fold over, turn, and repeat until dough comes together, about 3-5 times. (See video link in summary.)
  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes (or freeze up to 3 months).

Notes

Recipe doubles well.
