Pie Crust

Makes one 9" pie crust

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold butter
  • 3 tablespoons ice water

Instructions
 

  • Lightly mix flour, sugar, and salt together in a bowl. Cut butter into chunks, and add to dry ingredients to coat. Dump onto counter and use a rolling pin to flatten the butter into sheets (or use a pastry cutter). Scoop everything back into the bowl.
  • Add water and toss quickly to disperse the water. Dump back onto the counter. Roll out dough--adding flour and scraping the rolling pin as necessary--then fold over, turn, and repeat until dough comes together, about 3-5 times. (See video link in summary.)
  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes (or freeze up to 3 months).

Notes

Recipe doubles well.
